About the cover picture

The Thatcher effect shows a portrait upside down. One would think that the person in the picture is smiling but when one turns the portrait an ugly picture is seen who is definitely not smiling. This optical illusion was named the Thatcher effect because this effect was demonstrated for the first time with the picture of Margaret Thatcher, a former British politician.

Setting in time

A point in the future. A turning point because a revolution has taken place. Under the quote ‘belief is like water for the fishes’ every type of religion and philosophy is banned. Because the term ‘enlightenment’ is both religiously and historically biased, they call the new era ‘the impulse’ after a technology that uses light instead of electricity to do calculations. A method that is by far quicker than its electric predecessor.

A few heroes manage to rescue some Buddhist texts. Because owning those texts is punishable, they have incorporated them in the stories that are in this book.

The introduction

After the turning point, we look forward to another sentence that has just begun. The period of the impulse will leave a mark of pride and meaning in history.

The leader is that visionary that he knows how to turn words into action. He has set out the course of this nation in the fab 5 and the luminous 5. The fab 5 are the theoretical foundations on which this nation is built. They can be summarised by the words ‘religion is like water for fishes’. The fab 5 cry out for action. The kind of action that the luminous 5 provides.

These are the fab 5:

1. Fish do not whine about water.
2. No fish can survive in pure water. Life at sea starts with plankton. Pure water contains none of that so in pure water life is impossible.
3. Water (belief) does not add anything. It only  dilutes things.
4. When a fish tries to find a way out of some seaweed (possessions), it is not the presence of water but the absence of seaweed that saves the fish. So, absence of possessions is the key to survival.
5. Water has no shape, cannot be divided and is impossible to study scientifically.

These are the luminous 5

1. All reference to philosophy and religion will be banned from our language. For example, when someone has to sneeze, we used to say, ‘Bless you!’. This will now be replaced by the phrase ‘Happy Relief!’ Sneezing is a way of our body of getting rid of waste. This is an event that should be celebrated!
2. All monasteries have been closed down.
3. If religion has no benefit, no rituals at home or elsewhere are allowed.
4. Private property and profitable activities are now prohibited. The Party will feed everyone in collective canteens. We also want to denounce and eliminate the old ideas, the old culture, the old traditions, and the old customs. Hairdressers, tailors, photographers, booksellers, and others who used to serve those with money, no one is spared. We want to protest the old world!
5. Philosophy and theology are forbidden. Universities have had to put up with those Wie Li’s for far too long. Those Wiel Li’s will be reoriented to a career in farming.

Concernant la couverture

L’effet Thatcher montre un portrait à l’envers. On pourrait penser que la personne dans l’image est en train de sourire, mais quand on tourne le portrait une image laide est vu qui n’est certainement pas souriante. Cette illusion d’optique a été nommée l’effet Thatcher parce que cet effet a été démontré pour la première fois avec l’image de Margaret Thatcher, une ancienne politicienne britannique.

Cadre dans le temp

Un point dans l’avenir. Un point d’inflexion car qu’il y a eu une révolution. Sous la devise « la foi est comme l’eau pour les poissons », toute forme de religion et philosophie est interdit.  Parce que le terme « l’illumination » est à la fois religieusement et historiquement chargé, ils appellent la période après le point d’ inflexion « l’ impulse». Ce terme vient des impulsions de lumière. Une technologie qui n’utilise pas l’électricité mais la lumière, une méthode qui est beaucoup plus rapide.

Certains héros ont réussi à sauvegarder des textes bouddhistes au cours de cette période turbulente. Comme la possession de tels textes est punissable, ces vieux passages ont été intégrés dans les histoires de cette collection.

L’introduction

Après l’illusion du point d’ inflexion, nous ne nous réjouissons d’une phrase qui vient de commencer. Le sens de l’impulsion nous laissera des riches moments de fierté et d’importance.

Le meneur est si visionnaire qu’il sait comment transformer les mots en actes. Il a mis la direction de notre Nation dans les 5 points culminants et les 5 points rayonnants . Les 5 points culminants forment la base théorique sur laquelle notre Nation est construite. Il peut être résumé par « la religion est comme l’eau pour les poissons ». Les cinq points culminants exigent de l’action. Le genre d’actes que le les 5 points rayonnants fournissent.

Programme du Mouvement: les 5 points culminants

1. Les poissons ne convertent ni conversent de l’ eau.
2. Dans l’eau pure, un poisson ne peut pas survivre. La vie dans la mer dépend de la présence de plancton. Comme cela n’est pas présent dans l’eau pure, vivre dans une telle eau est impossible.
3. L’eau (Foi) n’ajoute rien de substantiel. Ça dilue seulement.
4. Quand un poisson fait son chemin à travers une épaisse couche d’ algues (possessions), ce n’est pas la présence d’eau qui le sauve, mais l’absence d’ algue. Ainsi, l’absence de possessions garantit qu’ on peut survivre.
5. L’eau est informe, impossible à décomposer et donc impossible à étudier scientifiquement.

Voici les 5 points rayonnants :

1. Toutes les références à la philosophie et à la religion seront supprimées de notre langue. Avant le point de l’ inflexion on disait « Je vous en prie ». On l’ a remplacé par « De tout mon corps ». Au début certains membre du mouvement ont proposé la phrase « de tout mon cœur » mais ceci était estimée trop religieux par le Meneur.
2. Tous les monastères ont été fermés.
3. Comme la religion n’est d’aucune utilité, aucun rituel ne peut être effectué à la maison ou ailleurs.
4. La propriété privée et les activités rentables sont maintenant interdites. Le Parti nourrira tout le monde dans les cantines collectives. Nous voulons aussi dénoncer et éliminer les vieilles idées, l’ancienne culture, les vieilles traditions et les anciennes coutumes. Coiffeurs, tailleurs, photographes, marchands de livres et autres qui servent la classe moyenne, personne n’est épargné. Nous voulons résister à l’ancien monde!
5. La philosophie et la théologie sont désormais interdites. Les universités ont dû tolérer ces uomo’s pasta blés trop longtemps. Ces uomo’s pasta blés seront réorientées vers une carrière dans l’ agriculture.

Deze optische illusie wordt het effect Thatcher genoemd omdat dit effect voor het eerst met het beeld van Margaret Thatcher, een vroegere Britse politica werd aangetoond.

Setting in tijd

Een punt in de toekomst. Een keerpunt want er heeft een revolutie plaatsgevonden. Onder het motto ‘geloof is als water voor de vissen’ wordt elke vorm van religie en filosofie verbannen.  Omdat de term ‘verlichting’ zowel religieus als historisch beladen is, noemen ze de periode na het keerpunt ‘de impuls’. Die term komt van lichtpulsen. Een technologie waar niet met elektriciteit maar met licht wordt gerekend, een methode die veel sneller is.

Enkele helden weten in die turbulente periode enkele boeddhistische teksten in veiligheid te stellen. Omdat het in bezit zijn van zo’n teksten strafbaar is, heeft men die oude passages verwerkt tot de verhalen in deze bundel.

De inleiding

Na de waan van het keerpunt kijken we enkel vooruit naar een zin die juist begonnen is. De zin van de impuls zal met ons rijkelijk tekens van trots en belang nalaten.

De Leider is zo visionair dat Hij weet hoe woorden moeten worden omgezet in daden. Hij heeft de richting van onze Natie vastgelegd in de 5 toppers en de stralende 5 De 5toppers vormen het theoretisch fundament waarop onze Natie gebouwd is. Ze kan worden samengevat met ‘religie is als water voor de vissen’. De 5 toppers roepen om actie. Het soort daden die de stralende 5 voorziet.

Programma van de beweging: de 5 toppers

1. Vissen zeiken niet over water.
2. In puur water kan een vis niet overleven. Het leven in de zee staat of valt met de aanwezigheid van plankton. Aangezien dat niet aanwezig is in zuiver water is leven in zo’n water onmogelijk.
3. Water (Geloof) voegt niets wezenlijks toe. Het verdunt alleen maar.
4. Wanneer een vis zich een weg baant door een dikke laag wier (bezittingen dus) is het niet de aanwezigheid van water die hem redt maar de afwezigheid van wier. Dus, de afwezigheid van bezittingen zorgt dat men kan overleven.
5. Water is vormloos, haast niet op te splitsen en dus onmogelijk wetenschappelijk te bestuderen

Dit zijn de stralende 5:

1. Alle verwijzingen naar filosofie en religie zullen worden geschrapt uit onze taal. In sommige delen van het land, bijvoorbeeld, groette men elkaar met ‘Grußs Gott’. Deze schandelijke zin zal worden vervangen door ‘Goede ontmoeting’ omdat niets moet in het leven.
2. Alle kloosters zijn gesloten.
3. Als religie geen nut heeft, mogen er geen rituelen thuis of elders, worden uitgevoerd.
4. Privébezit en winstgevende activiteiten zijn vanaf nu verboden. De Partij zal iedereen voeden in collectieve kantines. We willen bovendien de oude ideeën, de oude cultuur, de oude tradities en oude gebruiken allemaal aan de kaak stellen en uitbannen. Kappers, kleermakers, fotografen, boekventers en anderen die ten dienste staan van de burgerklasse, niemand wordt gespaard. We willen ons verzetten tegen de oude wereld!
5. Filosofie en theologie zijn vanaf nu verboden. Universiteiten hebben al lang genoeg dat roltuig moeten tolereren. Dit roltuig zal worden geheroriënteerd tot de boerenstiel.
